About Teresa

As a self taught artist, Teresa has developed her own unique style.

Teresa currently works as a primary relief teacher but on the days not teaching you will find her at her easel. After living and working abroad for 9 years, Teresa's work is heavily influenced by the Impressionists as a starting point. Her style would be considered as contemporary impressionistic. The bright New Zealand light is also represented within the subject matter of many of Teresa's colourful paintings.

Since 2005 Teresa has sold many of her works and had a solo exhibition for 10 months at a local destination cafe. She had also been regularly invited to put works of art into the local Pinehaven Art and Craft Exhibition for the past 6 years.

Teresa has also organized exhibitions for her current clientele at the Figtree Cafe where she has regularly exhibited her work.

Teresa has had commissions in New Zealand and internationally with pieces in America, Australia and Britain.

Large and public projects have seen Teresa painting wall murals at local schools in and around Upper Hutt. Some of these murals have been part of the Art Extension programmes run by the individual schools. This is where Teresa's creativity and passions both collide with painting and teaching children. She ran a very successful Art Extension programme in her studio teaching children chosen from primary schools around Upper Hutt. This was followed by a very popular exhibition of their work at Expressions Art Gallery in Upper Hutt.

Teresa runs a Holiday Art programme during the first week of each school holiday in her studio. She also tutors art weekly. Latest developments have seen Teresa undertaking tutoring her own Painting and Drawing Course for adults and more commissioned works to be in her studio/gallery.

As a mother, wife and teacher, Teresa finds painting very relaxing and creative at the same time. Teresa is interested in accepting commissions for most things provided she feels inspired and emotionally connected. A commissioned work is a journey for both herself and her client with each new work being met with incredible energy and enthusiasm.
